Stem Cell Biorevitalization

STEM CELL BIOREVITALIZATION

Cellular skin rejuvenation through natural regenerative processes

Stem cell biorevitalization is a modern regenerative technique in aesthetic medicine based on the injection of mesenchymal stromal (stem) cells into the skin, which have the ability to interact with surrounding tissues and regulate regenerative processes.

Unlike classic biorevitalization, where the primary effect is mainly associated with skin hydration through hyaluronic acid, stem cells act on the cellular microenvironment of the dermis and activate the body’s natural tissue regeneration mechanisms.

The main goal of the procedure is not to temporarily improve the skin’s appearance, but to create the biological conditions for its gradual structural regeneration.

HOW STEM CELLS WORK

After being injected into the dermis, mesenchymal stromal cells do not act as a “filler” and do not add volume.

Their primary function is to actively interact with skin cells.

Stem cells perceive signals from surrounding tissues—the state of the extracellular matrix, the presence of inflammatory molecules, the level of oxidative stress, and the extent of tissue damage—and in response begin to produce a wide range of biologically active substances.

This process is called paracrine regulation.

It is precisely through this process that the cells are able to influence fibroblasts, vascular endothelial cells, skin immune cells, and epidermal cells.

FIBROBLAST ACTIVATION— THE FOUNDATION OF YOUTHFUL SKIN

One of the primary targets of this action is fibroblasts.

Fibroblasts are cells in the dermis that form its structural framework.

They synthesize:

  • Type I collagen, which is responsible for skin strength;
  • Type III collagen, which ensures tissue flexibility;
  • elastin, which determines the skin’s ability to stretch and return to its original state;
  • hyaluronic acid and other glycosaminoglycans, which retain moisture;
  • fibronectin and laminin, which organize the extracellular matrix.

With age, fibroblasts become less active.

After interacting with stem cells, they receive biochemical signals that can help restore them to a more active functional state.

As a result, the renewal of dermal matrix components gradually increases.

SYNTHESIS OF COLLAGEN AND ELASTIN

Stem cells participate in the regulation of signaling pathways associated with connective tissue remodeling.

One of the key pathways is the TGF-β/SMAD system.

Under the influence of this signaling cascade, fibroblasts can increase the expression of genes associated with the formation of collagen and other extracellular matrix components.

At the same time, the formation of new collagen fibers becomes more organized.

This is important because young skin is characterized not only by a high collagen content but also by the proper architecture of its fibers.

It is precisely the restoration of the dermis’s structure that contributes to a gradual increase in skin density and elasticity.

04

REGENERATION OF THE EXTRACELLULAR MATRIX

The dermis is a complex three-dimensional network.

It can be compared to an elastic scaffold that supports cells, blood vessels, and nerve endings.

With age, this framework gradually breaks down:

  • collagen fibers become less organized;
  • the amount of elastin decreases;
  • the hyaluronic acid content decreases;
  • the activity of enzymes that break down the matrix increases.

Stem cells help create a more favorable microenvironment for the restoration of this structure.

As a result, the skin gradually becomes firmer, smoother, and more elastic.

Chronic low-grade inflammation is considered one of the causes of accelerated aging.

Even in the absence of visible disease, inflammatory signals may be constantly present in the skin, which:

  • damage cells;
  • accelerate collagen breakdown;
  • disrupt fibroblast function;
  • exacerbate oxidative stress.

Mesenchymal stromal cells have the ability to interact with immune cells and modulate inflammatory processes.

They can influence the balance of pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory signals, helping tissues transition from a state of chronic irritation to a state more conducive to recovery.

Exposure to sunlight, air pollution, and natural cellular metabolism leads to the formation of reactive oxygen species in the skin.

If their levels become too high, they damage:

  • cell membranes;
  • proteins;
  • mitochondria;
  • cellular DNA.

Oxidative stress activates enzymes that break down collagen and accelerates the processes of photoaging.

Stem cells play a role in regulating the cellular response to oxidative stress and can help create conditions under which skin cells more effectively maintain their own defense and repair mechanisms.

Oxygen and nutrients are essential for normal skin renewal.

Mesenchymal stromal cells are capable of interacting with the endothelial cells lining blood vessels and participating in the regulation of processes related to microcirculation and the restoration of the vascular microenvironment.

This helps maintain the conditions necessary for normal skin cell metabolism.

The effects are not limited to the dermis.

Through intercellular signaling, stem cells can also influence keratinocytes—the primary cells of the epidermis.

This can contribute to more harmonious renewal of the skin’s surface layer, improved skin texture, and a smoother appearance.

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PROCEDURE

Changes develop gradually.

The First Few Days

Intercellular communication processes are activated in the skin, and the tissues’ response to the introduction of cellular material is triggered.

The First Few Weeks

More active remodeling of the extracellular matrix begins, and the interaction between fibroblasts and the surrounding tissue improves.

After a few weeks

The following changes may gradually become noticeable:

  • increased hydration;
  • improved texture;
  • a more even skin tone;
  • a feeling of firmer skin.

Over the following months

As the components of the dermis renew, the skin may take on a smoother, more supple, and fresher appearance.

WHY THE RESULTS LOOK NATURAL

Stem cell biorevitalization does not alter facial features or create artificial volume.

It is designed to improve the quality of the skin itself.

Therefore, the result is usually perceived as a “well-rested” look:

01
the skin looks fresher;
02
its density improves;
03
fine lines become less noticeable;
04
a natural glow appears;
05
the face retains its individual features and natural facial expressions.

THE BIOCHEMICAL CHAIN OF REJUVENATION

The mechanism of the procedure can be viewed as a sequence of interconnected processes:

01
stem cells
02
intercellular signaling
03
activation of fibroblasts
04
remodeling of the collagen-elastin matrix
05
improvement of the tissue microenvironment
06
gradual increase in skin density, elasticity, and quality.
