What was studied
The authors analyzed current data on the role exosomes play in aging processes and age-related diseases. Exosomes are considered carriers of proteins, lipids, mRNA, and microRNA between cells, through which they can influence inflammation, the immune response, cellular aging, and tissue repair.
MSC-derived exosomes are discussed separately. In preclinical studies, they have demonstrated potential anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and regenerative effects. The authors discuss their application in research on Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, sarcopenia, and other age-related conditions.
