A Mother’s Story: Our 8-Year-Old Son From Ireland

Age: 8 years

Country: Ireland

Diagnosis: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

First treatment: December 2025

Second treatment: June 2026

When we first came to StemPlus, our son was 8 years old. One of our biggest concerns was his extreme sensory sensitivity.

Loud sounds could cause sudden panic and distress. Bright light and certain types of clothing were also very difficult for him to tolerate. Even situations that seemed ordinary to other children could quickly become overwhelming for him.

He mostly preferred to play alone and showed very little interest in other children, shared games, or conversations. Another major concern was that he often did not respond when we called his name.

As his mother, these were the things I hoped we could somehow improve.

Our First Course of Therapy

Our son underwent his first course of therapy at StemPlus in December 2025.

We noticed significant changes after the first treatment. He became more responsive to us and seemed more aware of what was happening around him.

We also began to notice gradual changes in his reactions to sensory triggers. He still had sensitivities, but some situations became easier to manage, and his reactions were not always as intense as before.

One of the most meaningful changes for us was that it became easier to get his attention.

Following the Rehabilitation Plan

After treatment, we carefully followed the rehabilitation plan recommended by Dr. Nadezhda Kiyan.

We understood that therapy itself was only one part of the process and that consistent rehabilitation at home was extremely important.

We worked step by step on communication, attention, sensory regulation, interaction, and everyday skills. We tried to follow the recommendations closely and give our son enough time to adapt and develop at his own pace.

Second Course and Further Progress

In June 2026, our son underwent a second course of therapy.

By that time, we had already seen meaningful progress after the first treatment, so we decided to continue according to the plan recommended by the medical team.

Since the second course, we have continued to notice positive changes.

He responds to his name more often and is easier to engage in activities. He has become more attentive to people around him and shows more interest in interaction.

We also feel that he is gradually becoming more comfortable in situations that previously caused strong sensory reactions.

Moving Forward Step by Step

Our son still has areas that require support, and we understand that development takes time.

For our family, the most important thing is that we can see progress. He is more responsive, more engaged, and easier to communicate with than before.

We continue to follow the rehabilitation plan from Dr. Nadezhda Kiyan and work consistently on the next stages of his development.

We know that every child with autism is different, and this is only our personal experience. For us, however, the changes we have seen since the first course of therapy have been significant, and we plan to continue moving forward step by step.
